Elements In Action

This project is the second big project for Design Foundations 1. It is designed to demonstrate the ability to use the PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN (UNITY, REPETITION, VARIETY, BALANCE, EMPHASIS, ECONOMY and RHYTHM) and communicate them to others using the ELEMENTS OF DESIGN.

Designers must be able to manipulate and control the principles and elements of design to create and visually communicate meaning. The elements of design make up a visual vocabulary while the principles of design provide the organizational characteristics. As designers we must successfully master the use of these principles and elements.

ASSIGNMENT
Create a book that illustrates the PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN: UNITY, REPETITION, VARIETY, BALANCE, EMPHASIS, ECONOMY and RHYTHM by creating compositions using only the ELEMENTS OF DESIGN: POINTS, LINE, PLANE, VALUE, SCALE, POSITIVE/NEGATIVE SPACE, AND SHAPE.
